Jean-Antoine Watteau print on metal pin
Jean-Antoine Watteau was a French painter of the Rococo style. He was born in 1684 and crossed over in 1721. Known for inventing a style of painting called “ Fete Galante” Galent festivals , nature settings exploring love and psychology. This is a reproduction of a courting couple. It is one scene in a four scene vinette of different couples. This pin is lovely, it is metal with the image in it . I did research the method and found nothing. I am not certain of the age of this piece, only that it has been in a box for over 20 years. Before that some one loved it, the evidence is around the ancient adhesive holding the equally ancient pin back on. I exaggerate of course. The age of the pin back and front confuse me and I found no other examples of this piece in the world. It is an awesome piece and would be great for so many situations.
